The Country Trust
What our donation will help fund
The Country Trust will use their grant to take over 360 disadvantaged primary age and SEN children, schooled in deprived areas of England, out onto real working farms for fun and immersive educational day visits.
Through this Farm Discovery Programme, kindly being supported by the Benefact Group, Country Trust will work directly with the participating children’s teachers and their own host farmers to ensure each child gets an accessible and exploratory opportunity to see first-hand where their food comes from, how it is grown and make connections for themselves between the food they eat, their own health and the health of the planet. Alongside experienced Country Trust Coordinators, who will tailor each farm visit to the emotional, social and physical needs of the children, teachers across 14 different schools will use the learning opportunity to help their pupils understand our current food system and how farming and the countryside are integral to current classroom topics such as healthy eating, sustainability, and regeneration.
Experience tells us that the positive impact these days have on the children is sustained amongst them, their peers and their families long after the day is over, and for that we are very proud and perpetually inspired.
