Irish Museum of Modern Art Company

Registered charity number: 20012793
IMMA connects audiences and art, providing an extraordinary space where contemporary life and contemporary art connect, challenge and inspire one another. We share, develop and conserve the Irish National Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art for now and for the future.

What our donation will help fund

The grant will fund the initial phase of Remembering the Future – The Technologies of Peace: Recording History, a project dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of Northern Ireland through the documentation of pioneering artist-filmmakers.

This phase will enable us to conduct interviews with 15-20 filmmakers, capturing their stories and experiences. These interviews will form part of an oral history archive, safeguarding these valuable narratives for future generations. Additionally, the grant will support public film screenings and events, engaging both local and cross-border communities in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

By preserving these stories, the project will not only honour the filmmakers’ contributions but also promote cultural understanding and reconciliation. Ultimately, this project aims to reach and positively impact thousands of individuals by providing access to these important historical records.

We are incredibly grateful to receive this Movement for Good Award, which enables us to preserve the voices and stories of pioneering filmmakers, safeguarding an important part of Northern Ireland’s cultural heritage. This project will help future generations reflect on these historical narratives, while also promoting collaboration and a deeper understanding of art’s role in peacebuilding and reconciliation. Such support is key to developing IMMAs role as a global research centre.
