The Port Sunlight Village Trust

Registered charity number: 1074713
Founded by ‘Soap King’ William Hesketh Lever in 1888, Port Sunlight village was built to house Lever’s ‘Sunlight Soap’ factory workers, but today is home to a fascinating museum, beautiful architecture, a world-class art gallery, stunning parkland and a thriving community.

We are delighted to be receiving this £5,000 donation through Benefact Group’s Arts and Culture special draw, with thanks to the incredible action of our supporters who nominated us. This donation will provide valuable support to our significant conversation project to bring Port Sunlight’s Grade II listed Boating Pond and Sea Piece fountain back into use.

What our donation will help fund

The award will provide valuable support to our project to repair Port Sunlight’s Grade II listed Boating Pond. Bringing this much-loved feature, alongside the beautiful Sir Charles Wheeler-designed Sea Piece fountain, back into use is a priority for us.

As a charity responsible for preserving and promoting Port Sunlight, this donation will help us to further engage the public with both Port Sunlight’s cultural importance and the significant examples of public art we care for.

Port Sunlight Village Trust was lucky enough to receive a £20,000 Movement for Good Award in 2022, which has also supported this ongoing conservation project, so we are very grateful to Movement for Good and Benefact Group for their continued support.
