Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) Ireland provides free skincare and makeup workshops to people undergoing cancer treatment. We teach practical techniques to manage the visible side effects of treatment - such as skin changes, hair loss, and loss of brows or lashes - while also creating a supportive space where participants can connect, feel uplifted, confident and leave with a smile feeling more like themselves again.
Each participant receives a full skincare and makeup kit tailored for sensitive skin. Skincare and makeup companies have been donating products to us but the last couple of years we have struggled with some products like cleansers and toners. These kits allow participants to practice techniques during the workshop and continue using them at home. They help people face cancer with confidence. Donations enable us to provide workshops at no cost to cancer centres, hospitals, and support groups across Ireland by covering:
- Facilitator costs (professional makeup artists trained to work with cancer patients).
- Travel and setup costs.
- Printed materials and confidence‑building resources.
We train and support our volunteers so they can provide safe, uplifting, and empathetic sessions for people in treatment. Donations help us post and pack out kits to cancer centres.
I attended a workshop in 2022 after being diagnosed with Ovarian cancer, I had lost all my hair, lashes brows, I had put on weight and no longer recognised myself. I found this very hard, I watched people cross the street when they saw me, some just looked at me but didn't recognise me either. Attending workshops helps you let down your guard, you can be yourself you don't have to be strong, when you are with family you try to be strong. Everyone at workshops is on their own journey but a similar one and it’s great to share tips and advice.
