LEAP is an award winning charity formed in 1992 which enhances the lives of older people in South Lanarkshire through befriending, activities, learning opportunities and practical support services.
The donation from the Benefact Group of £2,000 is vital to the continuation and expansion of our services for people with dementia and their carers. The carers in particular will benefit from group activities in order to alleviate the loneliness and isolation that they face in their role as carers of their loved ones. Our dementia services not only support of older people (50 years plus) living with dementia, but it also supports their carers by offering them a range of information, guidance, resources, and peer support to help them manage the challenges and emotional toll of caregiving.
LEAP is a charity that is run by older people and for older people. Our services have been developed as a result of the needs of older people locally and they now include adult education & health activities, one to one & group befriending for the lonely and isolated, dementia services to support clients and their carers, handyperson services to support people to remain in their own homes in later life and finally, LEAP manages three local community centres for local people to access a variety of community services.
We work with over 250 volunteers who are the driving force behind these services and LEAP have supported thousands of clients over the last 30 years. Many of our clients feel that LEAP services are a vital lifeline for them in later life. This donation of £2,000 is vital to the continuation and expansion of our services for people with dementia and their carers. The carers in particular will benefit from group activities in order to alleviate the loneliness and isolation that they face in their role as carers of their loved ones.
We really appreciate the generosity and recognition of the Benefact Group in making this kind donation to the work of LEAP.
