Cardiff Rivers Group's aim is to improve the water courses of Cardiff and South Wales by removing rubbish and improving the natural habitat for the benefit of all.
Every stretch of river we clean and habitat we restore is an investment in the health, biodiversity, and resilience of our communities. The work carried out by Cardiff Rivers Group is making a tangible, lasting impact across Cardiff and inspires people to take pride in the natural spaces on their doorstep. A grant of £2,000 will make a significant difference, enabling the purchase of vital equipment, supporting larger-scale habitat restoration, and expanding community engagement activities. This funding will directly strengthen the Group’s ability to work for the benefit of both people and nature.
We are extremely grateful to the Benefact Group for awarding us this grant. Having just completed our 500th event this couldn't come at a better time as we plan for the next 500! During this time our fantastic volunteers have undertaken over 22000 hours of effort clearing 17363 bags of rubbish, 405 shopping trolleys, 838 car tyres, 419 traffic cones, 229 bikes, 43 motor bikes, 5 boats, 3 cars and tonnes of loose rubbish including sofas, road barriers, and virtually anything else you can think of from the watercourses, woods and parks in and around Cardiff. We are all volunteers and receive no financial support from any public body., This grant will cover our insurance costs for the next year and allow us to invest in new tools enabling to achieve yet more going forward. Many thanks again.
